Oh, this book, this book, this book. What can I say about this book? Surprisingly, I have a lot to say about this book considering I only read 4% of it. I hadn't meant to start reading it at all, but I hit "enter" on my Kindle instead of the over key while I was trying to sort titles into their designated folders, and up popped the first page. So I started reading aloud to my younger brother, who began cringing after only a few sentences. This girl, Libby, reads like every other emoriffic, depre [...]

2.5 starsThis was a bit of a ‘Cinderella’ tale; poor girl with wicked aunt falls in love with handsome rock star. Someone interferes and they lose contact, and he then moves heaven and earth to find her again, with a questionnaire that only she can answer correctly. Very predictable and pretty dull unfortunately. Even the romance was too cheesy. 5 out of 10

I think I would have liked this book if Stanton hadn't gone overboard and made it way too complicated. She should have kept the story about Peter finding a girl who wasn't after him just for his money and fame. Or she should have focused on Libby's life, which was a pretty heartbreaking story. Bombarding readers with the whole story was too much at once, and I think it robbed each character from the full sympathy and emotional impact he/she would have received if his/her story would have stood o [...]

Wow, I started this book this morning, and could not put it down I ended up finishing it in the same day. My husband asked me how it was, since I apparently barely looked up from the pages. My first response was that it was so so sweet but then I started thinking about it, and this book is actually almost anything but. Though the story is overwrought with horrible occurrences that keep bringing our main character Libby down, I couldn't help but fall in love with it, and was an emotional train wr [...]

What are these books doing to me. This book is for all us silly girls who still believe in romance. The easiest way to describe this book is using Disney fairy tales (Cinderella in first place). Now put that story in our time somewhere in America and you pretty much got it. There is a girl and a boy, they meet totally accidentally and the rest is a legend. The thing is it doesn't matter how much silly this story is, it will make you cry. And therefore, I recommend you to pick up this book, make [...]

Oh. My. Lord!!! This book is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! I simply couldn't put it down. So I didn't!! I started it at about 11pm and thought I would read a chapter or two before I went to bed. HA!!! I think I finally fell asleep sometime around 4am because I just couldn't get it out of my head. So here I am today after having 3 hours sleep last night and I still can't help the grin every time I think about it!! I'm so happy that I was home alone when I read it because there were times when I had the bigges [...]

4 of 5 starsYay! I'm done! And its awesome! I didn't think this would be really good. During the first parts I thought it would be a struggle read. Libby being the kind of girl who lack confidence due to a tragic past, becoming an outcast in school, and getting stuck with a psycho aunt and then meeting Peter, the popular good looking lead singer of the famous Jamieson band, which is a really nice guy who just wanted a little normalcy in life aside from screaming fans. With their situation like t [...]

Once she had the perfect family but when a car accident takes the life of Libby's mother and sister her happy life is forever changed. Suffering from depression, Libby's father leaves her with an abusive and neglectful aunt. Her only solace is to escape to a local park and draw.Peter is a lead singer in the new hot, “boy” band. When his motor-coach makes a recreational stop at a park his life is forever changed by the beautiful artist he meets. Surprised that she doesn't know who he is, he r [...]

Brief summaryLibby has had a hard couple of years. She lives with her aunt who is always drunk and smoking and seems to hate her guts. Peter is a famous rock star who bumps into Libby at a nature preserve and it changes both of their lives.ThoughtsOk, so this is one of those reviews I don't want to write because I didn't really enjoy this book. There were a small number of scenes that were sweet, but that's about the best I can say for Rock and a Hard Place. The book was mostly from Libby and Pe [...]

Been reading a lot of books on rock stars lately (well, what can I do I can’t help but love them…I know you guys are gonna agree with me on that one) and I would say this book is definitely one of my favorites as well.Libby lived a sheltered life. Well, way too sheltered. She has no TV, no cell phone, no internet and lives far away from everyone from town. But then she meets Peter Jamieson a famous rock star (along with his brothers) without any idea of who he is. And immediately Peter was e [...]

Nop.

    12. Jessica (Goldenfurpro)

Meh. This book wasn't terrible, but the more I read, the less I liked it.The whole plot is really unbelievable. Not just the whole "Girl meets popular rockstar" thing, but it seemed like almost anything bad that could happen to a character was piled onto Libby. Yeah, I know that people have been through as much as her, but it was a lot to take in within so few of pages and with the romance going on at the same time. It also was incredibly cheesy, lots of insta-love, and some of the characterizat [...]

I guess when it comes to love I am one of those girls who still loves to hold the ideal world of romance, the stories that fall into the category of Cinderella. The ones that somebody big in the world could fall for us who well are plain of sorts , or like the hit TV Show was called The freaks and geeks of the world. I know it's fiction but whenever I read a tale like this , something always sparks in my mind of What If ? What if I met someone wonderful and who liked me for me , what type of li [...]

Awe! Loved this story! I'm a huge fan of Rock Stars - Reading this at a Young Adult level was great! I loved it! We start off with Libby sitting at her favorite tree. Waiting for her dad that has been gone for over a year. He said he'd be back and she'd be ready when he did.But instead of her dad, she saw a big bus pull into the park. At first she thought it would be someone famous or really rich. But when a few guys came out of the bus and started throwing the Frisbee around, and mom and dad ca [...]

Can't believe I read this book just in one day. But then again, it's not a really thick one. And of course, the writing was the biggest part of the reason why I didn't get bored at all, and just couldn't seem to put this book down until I finally knew the ending. And what a story it was. I cried so damn hard! It was safe to say I cried non-stop for almost one and half an hour. And I totally adored the love between Peter & Libby. And their story was just really heart-wrenching, but also so sw [...]

Libby has been waiting for her father to return for a long time. He never has.One day while waiting for her father, Libby sees a big bus arrive instead. As she sees the family get off the bus, Libby knows she will never have that again. Her family is gone. When one of the boys walks up to her and strikes a conversation, the last thing Libby expects is to actually fall for him. She does. As Peter got off his tour bus with the rest of his family A.K.A. his band, he spots a girl. The last thing he [...]

I absolutely love Angie Stanton's Rock and a Hard Place! Libby is a sweet girl who has had so much sadness heaped on her head, it's unbelievable. When she meets the gorgeous, kind Peter at a nature retreat, it seems like the beginning of a loving teen romance. Except that Peter isn't just some nice guyhe's part of a mega-selling band, and his life is as far from an ordinary teen's as you can get. But somehow these two make so much sense. Neither one of them lives a 'normal' teen life; they both [...]

Geesh - this is where YA fiction and 35-year-olds have a hard time meeting. First of all, the story line was compelling. I really did want to see what happened to the characters. That said, the writing was immature. It was third person, so there was no excuse since it wasn't in the voice of a particular character. As well, the story was really plot and "situation" driven, versus building character. I never really got a sense of the two main characters because the author was busy finding so many [...]

Rock-N-Roll's Prince Charming arrives in his shiny tour bus to save the lovely young maiden from a life of gloom and doom. But before they can find their Happily-Ever-After, there are some rotten apples, a wicked witch, and some dark and deep rabbit holes to overcome. But in the end, the fairy godmothers lend helping hands, and there's a nearly perfect ending when the glass shoe fits. This was a charming and fun-to-read (for the most part) contemporary romance. Several questions remained to be an [...]

This is such a touching novel about teenage love and the harsh reality that sometimes, life isn't all white picket fence. I love how the characters were created and put in the story. I can't and won't find fault.yway, i am but a reader, not a critic. I think some would say that other scenes here are quite over the top (in a dramatic sense) but hey, to each his own. What scene did i like most? hmm i know it's quite morbid, but i like the scenes wherein they were torn apart and i looovee the scene [...]

Really sweet book! Peter is no Kellan or Sinner - he's more Jonas Brothers kind of a guy, but you girls are going to love him.

I've heard a lot of great things about Rock and a Hard Place for a really long time but for some reason I just never picked it up. But when I saw that there was going to be a blog tour, I jumped to finally get the opportunity to see what this book was about.Libby's life has changed in a blink of an eye. One minute she's happy, popular and has family who love her and the next she's all alone with an evil aunt who treats her like crap. From the moment I started reading, I felt a connection to Libb [...]

ROCK AND A HARD PLACE is adorable! Not only is it one of those stories that give you the warm fuzzies, but it's also quite emotional. At one point I had to put it down because I was sobbing.Libby's life has been nothing short of horrific and heartbreaking. She meets this amazing stranger who turns out to be a famous rock star (unbeknownst to her). This poor girl, that everyone treats so horribly, has finally made a friend. Peter sees her and he cares for her. Aside from all of the awful things t [...]

What a wonderful surprise this book was! A lovely story about the lead singer of a rock band who meets this girl in a forest reserve park. They fell in like with each other, so Peter took any chance he could to meet up with her, until circumstances pulled them apart against their wishes. The anguish of their separation made me cry, Libby had such a hard time. I loved how everything was resolved towards their HEA, I'm so glad I found this book.

Actual rating - 2.5The characters in this were alright, but they all annoyed me at point or another. This wasn't a bad read, but I felt bored quite a few times while reading this, and I was looking forward to the end before I'd even got halfway. It just couldn't keep my interest unfortunately.

First Love Against the oddsGreat read! Ties together two unlikely souls in a rich excursion from the depths of tragedy and desperation to the heights of commitment and freedom.

2.8/5☆I would liked it more if we only have had one POV but we had a lot and that make me hate a little bit the book because we didn't know who was talking

Me esperaba más, el argumento ya es bastante repetitivo y los personajes no me acabaron de convencer. Talvez hace algún tiempo me hubiera podido gustar más.
