3 How To Offer Help and Learning to Accept It Stars* * * There is nothing like traveling to far off places while staying in your own chairDoes it equate to the real deal. no, but it can broaden horizons and expand knowledge of the ways of the world outside your own. With this book I was in New Zealand and spent their summer time holidays during months from my winter. That was the first adjustment I had to make; the other was catching on to all the phrasing and casual comments I wouldn't usually [...]

Fixed Up is a steaming hot début romance from New Zealand author Maddie Jane.Harper Cassidy is trying to make name for herself in the DIY business while smashing through the glass barrier that says women can't be as handy as men. Harper is trying to get DIY Divas off the ground and the last thing she expected was to literally fall in the arms of the hunky Luke Colton, a man who epitomises every thing she is striving against, and yet she can't stop her body's radical reaction to the smouldering [...]

I loved this fast paced, witty story featuring two flawed but likable characters who are hopelessly attracted to each other but hopelessly incompatible in equal measures - in true rom-com style. The DIY Divas angle was original and fun. Luke Cotton and Harper Cassidy were such believable characters I felt like they were people I knew, and when they finally sort out their problems and get it together I found myself smiling with satisfaction. Highly recommended.

This review was originally posted on Michelle K. Pickett's blog: These Words Tell a StoryI really liked the concept of Fixed Up by Maddie Jane. It’s the author’s debut and described as a romantic comedy. It’s romantic, but I wouldn’t list it as a comedy, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing—unless a reader is looking specifically for a ROM/COM. Then they might be disappointed in the lack of humorous elements. That being said, I don’t think it disappoints as a romance. The DIY angl [...]

This new girl on the block, Maddie Jane, has a fresh, witty writing style that is light and refreshing. The story, set in NZ, revolves around DIY business owner, Harper and hunky hero, Luke. Luke has a penchant for rescuing the women in his life and Harper is fiercely independent so when she literally falls into his arms, the resultant sparks fly. Superbly written, Fixed Up is a perfect holiday read. Fun and breezy with laugh out loud moments, Try this new author!I look forward to more from her. [...]

Harper and Luke had chemistry for sure. Fixed Up has the makings of a very good romance. It's cute, sexy and short. I'm thinking that may have been the problem, it felt unfinished. That was disappointing when a story has quite a bit going for it. I recieved an ARC of Fixed up by Maddie Jane in exchange for an honest review.
